November Market Cancelled by Storm Bert
It is with very heavy hearts that we have decided to cancel this Sunday’s Christmas Market in Shepton Mallet. We are absolutely gutted to have to do this again because of the weather. We know that our traders and volunteers have worked so hard preparing and will be really disappointed.
The weather due with storm Bert coming in involves very strong winds and heavy rain, with a yellow warning for both being issued until 9pm Sunday. With that in mind, safety has to be our utmost priority and we feel it would be irresponsible to proceed with the event. We have a duty of care towards you guys our lovely traders, the public, volunteers, entertainers and local businesses and need to ensure that everyone is kept safe.
We did explore other options, such as pushing back the start time, moving the market etc, however, these options presented their own complications and we felt we wouldn’t be able to offer the same high quality market experience that we strive for at Shepton Sunday Market.
Welcome to Somerset’s newest market: Shepton Mallet Sunday Market, in the heart of the Mendips. We bring together the best produce & makers the South West has to offer.
The Shepton Mallet Sunday Market is a brand new market, produced by a passionate team of Shepton Mallet residents and business owners. It’s focus is to bring people together and make Shepton the thriving market town it once was. Expect a mix of vintage, designer-makers, food, antiques, home & gardens and art, alongside kids’ fun, workshops and live music.
The Sunday Market will be held on the last Sunday of the month, between 10am and 3pm, on the following dates in 2024:
- Sunday 28th April
- Sunday 28th July
- Sunday 29th September
- Sunday 24th November – Christmas Special
In 2024 the market will run 4 events.
